About the authorDevon-based Wendy, has been a maths teacher for the past 15 years and has devoted much of her time to developing alternative approaches to teaching the subject to both children and adults. She was awarded a NESTA Fellowship in November 2001 to pursue her ambition to become a national media personality who will help to popularise maths and make it more accessible to people of all ages. Wendy has a regular weekly column in the Times Educational Supplement, Teacher magazine called 'Mathagony Aunt'. Wendy is regarded by her peers as a mathematician with an exceptional ability and energy to inspire people, "I've always been searching for ways to make maths fun and accessible, for pupils and for adults. But as a teacher, my responsibility was, quite obviously, to those students in my class. Perfect Times is an opportunity to help many more people, to take maths to the masses. " "So many people are frightened of maths when in fact, anyone can conquer it if it is taught in a way that makes sense to them. Maths is magic, it has such power. I want to share that buzz. After all, it's part of our everyday lives" Wendy Fortescue-Hubbard on Teachers' TV:KS3: 'Mean, Median and Mode' Ideas on putting maths into practice outside the classroom.
