I am getting an error message about Active content when I click on a link/I cannot access all parts of the program / When I try and use Mult-e-Maths, I keep getting an error message saying that my computer has restricted active content. I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has extra security settings which prevent many programs, including Mult-e-Maths, from running fully. To prevent these messages from appearing each time you use the product, you will have to allow active content to run on your PC.

For your convenience, we have provided below an Active Content Manager. This will configure Internet Explorer for you to allow the content you require to run Mult-e-Maths.

Active Content Manager (zip file, 95Kb)
This may take a couple of minuted to download

How to run the Active Content Manager
Flash Player 8

Another possibility is that there is a security issue with Flash Player 8. If this is the case, then you need to follow the following instructions:

Flash configuration file (zip file, 1Kb)

  1. Copy the zip file on to the computer that has the problem
  2. Double click on the zip file and it will open as if it is a normal folder, and display a file called 'Flash Configuration'
  3. Double click on the Flash Configuration file. A black window will very briefly flash up on the screen. It is okay to do this more than once if you are not sure if it worked
  4. All that needs to be done now is start or restart Mult-e-Maths, and check that it is working
Are the KS2 Mult-e-Maths strands (first edition) Windows Vista compatible?

The following versions of Mult-e-Maths strands are Vista compatible:

If, for one or more Mult-e-maths strands, you have lower versions than the ones specified above and you wish to receive a Vista compatible version, please email a request to techsupport@cambridge-hitachi.com with your personal/institutional information, postal address and invoice number together with the strands you wish to receive replacements for.

For your information, when you install Mult-e-maths on Windows Vista please bear in mind the following two minor issues:

  1. If while installing/uninstalling a strand you encounter the compatibillity message "This program may not have installed correctly" then click on the option "This program installed correctly" and proceed. The installation/uninstallation will then complete successfully.
  2. If after uninstalling Mult-e-maths the desktop shortcut is still apparent on screen then refresh the desktop (F5 on keyboard) and the shortcut will disappear.
